9 Daily Reflections for the Spiritually Lethargic

  1. Consider the thorough and personal righteous judgment of God upon your soul that is assuredly coming, and repent of your sins completely and sincerely.

  2. Recall how your savior Jesus Christ rescued you from judgement and gave you a new heart. Revive your love for God and let it permeate through your being, powering every thought and deed—you are what you love.

  3. You do not know when the master of the house will return. Rise up from your slumber and live proactively, intentionally, vibrantly, and expectantly, for you must always be aware and present, lest you be caught off guard.

  4. Consider the armor of God supplied to you so that you can withstand the schemes of the evil one. Resist the temptation to sin and the devils that fight for your fall. You must not go on in this spiritual battle without your sword and shield.

  5. God’s word is a lamp unto your feet and a light unto your path. Read it every day to be reminded of His ways and His truth. Without it, you will veer off course.

  6. Though your outer self is wasting away, you must not lose heart. Renew your mind so that you may discern the will of God and not be conformed to this world.

  7. Jesus rebuked the Church in Laodicea for their lukewarmness. If you are neither cold nor hot, reignite your zeal for your first love and give your whole heart to Him, not half. Fan into flame the gift of God.

  8. In a race all runners run, but only one receives the prize. Run the race that is set before you. Discipline your body and keep it under control, and do not run aimlessly.

  9. “Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:14)
